Wooo Work!

So it's 5:46 AM and I'm going to work in 15 minutes.  I thought I'd jot down some thoughts about life as a working man.  For one thing, I'm training people today...no matter how unqualified I feel I am to train anybody to do anything, that's what I'm doing.  What makes it even better is I'm most likely training people with 30+ years of experience.  I'll be like Ron Popiel trying to sell the latest and greatest software tool to make their jobs easier...except they have a much better BS-o-meter.

In other news it is way too hot here.  I seriously think it were up to 100+ °F indoors.  We don't have an air conditioned factory.  Outside temperature here was about 99 °F, 110 with heat index.  Usually our factory is a bit warmer than outside b/c of the furnaces.  It's really weird to be indoor, sit on a stool and realize that the stool is heating up your butt.  I think it's b/c one usually associates that with something that's been outside in the sun.  Coincidentally, a 37+ °C ambient temperature (note I just changed units.  I've been hanging out with German guys, what can I say?) leads to some nifty metrological problems.  At the grinder I was looking at, the coolant runs at 26 °C.  This presents the interesting problem that your gage which has been sitting outside is 11 degrees warmer than your part.  The longer you let your part sit outside to measure it the bigger it gets because it's warming up.  That in turn makes it really hard to get a quick reading to figure out if your process is OK.  anyhow off to work I go
